History

The Cinco Ranch Church of Christ is a body of believers that began meeting together in March of 1992 as the Westside Church of Christ.  That original group met in a conference room of a local Kroger store where everyone brought their own chair for seating. As inconvenient as that was, the space was outgrown after just two Sundays. A new meeting place had to be found and Academy Sports and Outdoors graciously allowed the church to use their former café space in their office facility for the next year.  The following two years were spent meeting in the cafeteria of Cimarron Elementary school while searching for a more permanent meeting place.

That happened with a move into the Park Ten area in 1995.  The church grew.  By the middle of summer in 1997 we were nearly out of space and were looking for a place with room to continue to grow.  In July of the next year, the church’s shepherds commissioned a task force to explore options for growth.  The group found no rental space large enough to meet our growth projections.  In 1999 a piece of property was located in Cinco Ranch. We intended to purchase 6 of the 21 acres available on FM 1093, but God had other plans for us. He worked it out so that we could instead purchase the 10 acres on Mason Road where our current campus rests.

Construction on a 15,600 sq. ft. multipurpose facility began in August of 2000. We had our first worship service in this new building on Sunday, February 18, 2001. God has continued to bless us with new growth since that time.

In 2007 a 16,000 square foot Children’s and Youth Education building was built because we had been blessed with so many families our children’s classes were overflowing. This two-story building houses most of our youth classes from 2 years through high school.

We also have plans to build other buildings on this property, including a facility dedicated to worship, which will seat about 1,000 worshipers at a time.

We look forward to more milestones in the future as we continue to go where God leads.
